Jim Fenton is a Distinguished Engineer in Cisco's Corporate Development Technology Group.

Jim is one of the instigators behind the DocWiki pilot. In addition, he is responsible for defining a number of new initiatives relating to user-centric identity, emergent collaboration, and e-mail security. He is an active member of the design team for DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM), and was the lead architect for one of its predecessors, Identified Internet Mail. He has also recently been responsible for defining a number of new initiatives relating to router-based security.

In previous roles at Cisco, Jim has managed development efforts relating to VoIP features for service providers, store-and-forward fax, and was a key member of the team that established Cisco in the dial access market. Jim came to Cisco from the acquisition of Combinet, Inc., where he was Director of Technology and drove the introduction of IP and IPX routing to Combinet's products. He has Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
