From DocWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

This section describes how to download images and store them in Glance for deployment as tenant servers.

Contents

Prerequisites

You must have a node running the Glance service, with connectivity to the servers on which the images reside (for example, the download websites of the image distributions).

Procedure

Downloading the Images

Download the image(s) you want to deploy as tenant servers. For example, the following examples demonstrate how to download Cirros, Fedora, and Ubuntu 12.04:

  • Cirros:
    wget http://download.cirros-cloud.net/0.3.1/cirros-0.3.1-x86_64-disk.img
  • Fedora:
    wget http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/19/Images/x86_64/Fedora-x86_64-19-20130627-sda.qcow2
  • Ubuntu:
    wget http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/precise/current/precise-server-cloudimg-amd64-disk1.img

Storing the Images in Glance

Store the image(s) you downloaded in Glance. For example, the following commands store the images downloaded in the previous example, respectively:

  • Cirros:
    glance image-create --name cirros-x86_64 --is-public True --disk-format qcow2 --container-format ovf --file cirros-0.3.1-x86_64-disk.img --progress
  • Fedora:
    glance image-create --name Fedora --is-public True --disk-format qcow2 --container-format bare --file Fedora-x86_64-19-20130627-sda.qcow2 --progress
  • Ubuntu:
    glance image-create --name precise-x86_64 --is-public True --disk-format qcow2 --container-format bare --file precise-server-cloudimg-amd64-disk1.img --progress
