Cisco Unified Personal Communicator is unable to search LDAP for contacts and return search results.

What Caused it?

Typically, this failure happens if one of these conditions is true:

1. Incorrectly configured LDAP profile where "Recursive Search" is not checked. If, for example, you configure this search context,- "OU=People, DC=r7, DC=com" - but you do not check Recursive Search, Cisco Unified Personal Communicator is able to search the "People" container but is unable to search for contacts in one of the subcontainers.

2. Incorrectly configured LDAP profile - "Search Context" incorrect

3. Slow response from LDAP server - it may take a long time to find a contact if your corporate directory is large and you search points to the root of the directory.

What Can You Do?

1. Incorrectly configured LDAP profile - "Recursive Search" not checked

Possible Solution

Go to Cisco Unified Presence Administration, and select Application > Cisco Unified Personal Communicator > LDAP Profile. Check the Recursive Search check box.

2. Incorrectly configured LDAP profile - "Search Context" incorrect

Possible Solution

Go to Cisco Unified Presence Administration, and select Application > Cisco Unified Personal Communicator > LDAP Profile. Verify the Search Context field.

3. Slow response from LDAP server

Possible Solution

Go to Cisco Unified Presence Administration, and select Application > Cisco Unified Personal Communicator > LDAP Server. For the LDAP server, use global catalog server. For the LDAP port, use the global catalog port.
