Desktop: Agents lose connection to the Finesse server due to script characters that are not valid XML 1.0

Problem Summary Agents lose connection to the Finesse server and are signed out.
Error Message In the openfire desktop logs, the error.log file contains a stack trace similar to the following:

Possible Cause Finesse receives a script that contains characters that are not valid XML 1.0 characters. Openfire supports only valid XML 1.0 characters.
Recommended Action When you pass a character to Finesse in a script, ensure all characters are valid XML 1.0 characters.
