A Cisco Unified Communications Manager feature, Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View comprises XML applications that enable the display of interactive content with text and graphics on certain models of Cisco Unified IP Phones. The Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View offers users a convenient way to join meetings, start reservationless meetings, view a list of upcoming meetings, and view meeting details. After joining a meeting, a user can perform in-meeting operations such as locking the meeting, recording the meeting, viewing a list of participants, and muting or ejecting participants.
Notes:
- Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View is available only to Cisco Unified IP Phones that are registered to Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
- Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express does not support Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View.
About the Security of Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View
Using the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View may affect the way you secure your Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express system or network:
- Cisco Unified IP Phones do not support SSL.
- Once a Cisco Unified IP Phone is subscribed to the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View, anyone can use that Cisco Unified IP Phone screen to view the meeting details and invitees of published meetings. Users can also join meetings through the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View, without entering a PIN.
- Each time a Cisco Unified IP Phone accesses the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View, the following items are sent as clear text over the network:
- Username
- PIN or password (See Table: Required Username and Password for Subscribing to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View)
- Phone number of the Cisco Unified IP Phone
About Username and Password Requirements for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View
The username and password required to subscribe to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View depends on how the user is authenticated when logging in to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express from a workstation. About Language Requirements for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View
The requirements in this section apply when Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express, Cisco Unified Communications Manager, or the Cisco Unified IP Phones are configured for multiple locales, which are language versions for specific regions.
- For each language enabled on Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express, the matching locale must be installed on Cisco Unified Communications Manager. See the Cisco IP Telephony Locale Installer documentation.
- For each Cisco Unified IP Phone subscribed to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View, the user locale specified in Cisco Unified Communications Manager must match the Language specified in the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express user profile.
Configuring Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View
This topic describes how to configure Cisco Unified Communications Manager to enable users to subscribe to and access Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View.
Before You Begin
- Read the following sections:
- Configure Cisco Unified Communications Manager as the call-control device for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express. See Integrating With Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
Restrictions
- Cisco Unified IP Phones do not support SSL.
- Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View is available only to Cisco Unified IP Phones that are registered to Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
- This task is performed in the Cisco Unified Communications Manager pages. Because the pages and menus vary by Cisco Unified Communications Manager release, you may need to see the Cisco Unified Communications Manager online help for more accurate step-by-step instructions than those provided in this procedure. The following procedure refers to Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.0.
Note: The names for Cisco Unified CallManager Release 4.3, Release 5.1, and Release 6.0 have been changed to Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 4.3, Release 5.1, and Release 6.0. The names of Cisco Unified CallManager Release 4.0, Release 4.1, Release 4.2, and Release 5.0 have not changed and remain the same.
Procedure
- Go to http://ccm-server/ccmadmin/main.asp, where ccm-server is the fully qualified domain name or IP address of the Cisco Unified Communications Manager server.
- Log in with your Cisco Unified Communications Manager administrator username and password.
- Add a new Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View by completing the following actions:
a. Click Device > Device Settings > Phone Services.
b. In the top left corner, click Add New.
c. In the Service Information area, configure the fields described in Table: Fields for the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View.

f. To finish, click Save and Close.
4. Find the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View you just added by completing the following actions:
a. Click Device > Device Settings > Phone Services.
b. On the Find and List IP Phone Services page, click Find.
c. In the Matching Records area, locate the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View.
5. Click the name of the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View.
6. Add the Cisco IP Phone Number parameter to this Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View by completing the following actions:
a. In the Service Parameter Information area, click New.
b. In the Configure Cisco IP Phone Service Parameter window, configure the fields described in Table: Fields for the Cisco IP Phone Number Parameter.

7. Add the User Name parameter to this Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View by completing the following actions:
a. In the Service Parameter Information area, click New.

c. Click Save and Close.
9. To apply the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View and parameter changes, take one of the following actions:
- If the service was modified after subscriptions existed, click Update Subscriptions to rebuild all user subscriptions. You must update subscriptions if you changed the service URL, removed a phone service parameter, or changed the name for a phone service parameter.
- If the service is new and you do not need to rebuild user subscriptions, click Update.
10. Subscribe Cisco Unified IP Phones to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View by taking one or both of the following actions:
- You can subscribe individual Cisco Unified IP Phones to the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View through Cisco Unified Communications Manager. See the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration Guide.
- Notify end users that they can subscribe their Cisco Unified IP Phones to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View. See the User Guide for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Release 2.x.
- Complete the steps in the procedure Subscribing to the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View.
Subscribing to the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View
Procedure
- Go to http://ccm-server/ccmadmin/main.asp, where ccm-server is the fully qualified domain name or IP address of the Cisco Unified Communications Manager server.
- Log in with your Cisco Unified Communications Manager administrator username and password.
- Click User Options > Device.
- From the Name drop-down list, select your phone. The name of your phone should be its MAC address. To check the name of your phone, follow these steps:
- Press the settings button.
- Choose Network Configuration.
- Choose MAC address.
- Click Phone Services.
- Click Add New.
- From the Select a Service drop-down list, select the name of the service that you created in the "Configuring Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Express Phone View" section.
- Enter values for the name, wfpassword, and ipphone fields. Click Save.
- On your phone, press the settings button. It should display the name of the service that you entered in Step 7.
