Up one level: Planning Your Deployment

Note: This section describes audio deployments that do not use video. If you want to use video in your audio deployment, see the About Audio Deployment Models with Video for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 7.0.

Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 7.0 uses only SIP signalling.

The system has two audio-only deployment options and both use Cisco Unified Communications Manager to support MGCP (Media Gateway Control Protocol), H.323, SCCP, and SIP gateways.

Note: Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 7.0 interoperates with all third-party, standards-based IP PBXs; however, only deployments with Cisco Unified Communications Manager have been tested.

Option 1: Audio Deployment Using Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.1(2)

Note: Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.1(2) refers to Release 6.1(2.1000-13).

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.1(2) is the preferred deployment choice in all cases for both audio-only and audio-video. It is required if you want directory synchronization. Using Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.1(2) does not limit your endpoint choices in any way. Video terminals may connect to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace; however, the connection is audio only.

Note: Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.0(x) refers to Release 6.0(1.2000-3).

Option 1, which uses Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.1(2), is the preferred audio option; however, you can use option 2, which uses Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.0(x), to remain compatible with existing installations, if you do not want to upgrade to Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.1(2).

For deployments that already use Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.0(x), we recommend putting a Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.1(2) cluster in between the older Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 7.0.

The workflow is shown below.
