Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Business Edition Co-Resident Configuration

This topic provides a reference configuration for Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Business Edition co-resident with Cisco Unity Connection within a Cisco Unified Communications deployment. This topic does not contain detailed step-by-step procedures; instead, for or detailed information about installing, configuring, and administering a co-resident configuration, refer to the component documentation listed in Related Documentation.

Reference Configuration

The system-wide testing of IP telephony functionality for Cisco Unified Communications included for Cisco Unified CMBE co-resident with Cisco Unity Connection. For general information about the tested functionality in Cisco Unified Communications , see System Release Notes for IP Telephony: Cisco Unified Communications System, Release 7.0(1).

Network Topologies

During Cisco Unified Communications testing, this component was installed and tested in the following site models:

  • AZO for load testing
  • RNO for features and functionality testing
  • MAN for features, functionality and load testing

Configuration Details

The following sections provide an overview of how Cisco Unified Communications Manager was configured on many of the System menu web pages that you access from Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration. These sections do not describe all of the System menu web pages or web page fields. Instead, they point out selected configuration information that will help you understand how Cisco Unified Communications Manager was set up to perform most effectively. For the remaining System menu options, either the system default was used or no configuration was required.

  • System > Server
  • System > Cisco Unified CM
  • System > Cisco Unified Communications Manager Group
  • System > Date/Time Group
  • System > Presence Group
  • System > Location
  • System > SRST
  • Service > Security Profiles

System > Server

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring servers, choose System > Server from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application and use the default values specified in the product documentation, see Related Documentation section.

System > Cisco Unified CM

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring Cisco Unified Communications Managers, choose System > Cisco Unified CM from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application and use the default values specified in the product documentation, see Related Documentation section.

System > Cisco Unified Communications Manager Group

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring Cisco Unified Communications Manager Groups, choose System > Cisco Unified Communications Manager Group from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application and use the default values specified in the product documentation, see Related Documentation section.

System > Date/Time Group

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for configuring date/time groups for site locations, choose System > Date/Time Group from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application and use the default values specified in the product documentation, see Related Documentation section.

The following date/time groups were configured for the CMBE co-resident with Cisco Unity Connection site model:

  • AZO_EST
  • MAN_CEST

System > Presence Group

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring Cisco Presence groups, choose System > Presence Group from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application and use the default values specified in the product documentation, see Related Documentation section.

System > Device Pool

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring device pools, choose System > Device Pool from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application and use the default values specified in the product documentation, see Related Documentation section.

System > Location

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages to configure Communications Manager locations, choose System >Location from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application and use the default values specified in the product documentation, see Related Documentation section.

The following locations were configured for the CMBE co-resident with Cisco Unity Connection site model:

  • Hub_None
  • azo-main
  • azo-srst1
  • azo-srst2
  • azo-srst3
  • azo-srst4
  • azo-srst5

Location settings between all sites were configured as Unlimited Voice Bandwidth and Unlimited Video Bandwidth.

System > SRST

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for configuring SRST references for the server, choose System > SRST from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

The following references were configured for the CMBE co-resident with Cisco Unity Connection site model:

  • azo-srst.azo.com
  • azo-srst1.azo.com

Service > Security Profiles

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring security profiles for the server, choose Service > Security Profiles from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

The following security profiles were configured for the CMBE co-resident with Cisco Unity Connection site model:

  • SIP Phone Security Profiles
  • Non Secure SIP Trunk Profile

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Call Routing Configuration

The following sections provide an overview of how Cisco Unified Communications Manager was configured on many of the Call Routing menu web pages that you access from Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration. These sections do not describe all of the Call Routing menu web pages or web page fields. Instead, they point out selected configuration information that will help you understand how Cisco Unified Communications Manager was set up to perform most effectively. For the remaining Call Routing menu options, either the system default was used or no configuration was required.

Call Routing > Route/Hunt > Line Group

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring route groups, choose Call Routing > Route/Hunt > Line Group from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Call Routing > Route/Hunt > Hunt List

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring route/hunt lists, choose Call Routing > Rout/Hunt > Hunt List from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Call Routing > Route/Hunt > Hunt Pilot

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring hunt pilot points, choose Call Routing > Route/Hunt > Hunt Pilot from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Call Routing > Class of Control > Partition

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring partitions, choose Call Routing > Class of Control> Partition from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

  • srst2_xlate_pt SRST2 4 digit dialing
  • srst3_pstn_pt PSTN trunks for SRST3
  • srst3_xlate_pt SRST3 4 digit dialing
  • srst4_pstn_pt PSTN trunks for SRST4
  • srst4_xlate_pt SRST4 4 digit dialing
  • srst5_pstn_pt PSTN trunks for SRST5

Call Routing > Class of Control > Calling Search Space

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring calling search spaces, choose Call Routing > Class of Control > Calling Search Space from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Call Routing > Translation Pattern

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring translation patterns, choose Call Routing > Translation Pattern from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Call Routing > Call Park

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring call park numbers, choose Call Routing > Call Park from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Call Routing > Directory Number

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and assigning directory numbers, choose Call Routing > Directory Number from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Approximately 1,012 directory numbers were configured for the CMBE co-resident with Cisco Unity Connection site model. For examples of directory number configuration, see the following sections:

  • Device > Gateway for examples of directory numbers mapped to CTI route points
  • Device > Gateway for an example of a directory number assigned to an analog gateway port
  • Device > Phone for examples of directory numbers assigned to IP phones

Call Routing > Meet-Me Number/Pattern

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring Meet-Me numbers for conferences, choose Call Routing > Meet-Me Number/Pattern from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Media Resource Configuration

The following sections provide an overview of how Cisco Unified Communications Manager was configured on many of the Media Resources menu web pages that you access from Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration. Media Resources > Annunciator

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for configuring annunciators to play tones and announcements, choose Media Resources > Annunciator from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Media Resources > Conference Bridge

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring conference bridges, choose Media Resources > Conference Bridge from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Media Resources > Media Termination Point

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring media termination points, choose Media Resources > Media Termination Point from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Media Resources > Music On Hold Audio Source

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring music on hold audio sources, choose Media Resources > Music On Hold Audio Source from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

A single music on hold audio source was configured for the CMBE co-resident with Cisco Unity Connection site model. Media Resources > Music On Hold Server

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager  web pages for adding and configuring music on hold (MOH) servers, choose Media Resources > Music On Hold Server from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Media Resources > Transcoder

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring transcoders, choose Media Resources > Transcoder from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Fourteen transcoder audio sources were configured in the CMBE co-resident with Cisco Unity Connection site model. Media Resources > Media Resource Group

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring media resource groups, choose Media Resources > Media Resource Group from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Media Resources > Media Resource Group List

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring media resource group lists, choose Media Resources > Media Resource Group List from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Voice Mail Configuration

The following sections provide an overview of how Cisco Unified Communications Manager was configured on many of the Voice Mail menu web pages that you access from Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration. These sections do not describe all of the Voice Mail menu web pages or web page fields. Instead, they point out selected configuration information that will help you understand how Cisco Unified Communications Manager was set up to perform most effectively.

  • Voice Mail > Message Waiting
  • Voice Mail > Voice Mail Pilot
  • Voice Mail > Voice Mail Profile

These sections do not discuss the Cisco Voice Mail Port Wizard menu option.

Voice Mail > Cisco Voice Mail Port

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring voice mail ports, choose Voice Mail > Cisco Voice Mail Port from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Voice Mail > Message Waiting

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring message waiting number, choose Voice Mail > Message Waiting from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Voice Mail > Voice Mail Pilot

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring voice mail pilots, choose Voice Mail > Voice Mail Pilot from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Voice Mail > Voice Mail Profile

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Device Configuration

Instead, they point out selected configuration information that will help you understand how Cisco Unified Communications Manager was set up to perform most effectively. For the remaining Device menu options, either the system default was used or no configuration was required.

  • Device > Gateway
  • Device > Phone
  • Device > Device Settings > SIP Profile

Device > Gateway

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring gateways, choose Device > Gateway from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

Device > Phone

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring Cisco Unified IP Phones and Cisco Analog Telephone Adaptors (ATAs), choose Device > Phone from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

This section shows how two phones (Cisco Unified IP Phone 7960 and Cisco Unified IP Phone 7971) were configured for the CMBE co-resident with Cisco Unity Connection site model. More than 20,000 other phone devices were configured but are not described in this section.

  • CTI ports were configured by adding a new phone with a Phone Type of CTI Port.

Device > Device Settings > SIP Profile

To access the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration web pages for adding and configuring SIP profiles, choose Device > Device Settings > SIP Profile from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration application.

The default SIP Profiles was configured for the CMBE co-resident with Cisco Unity Connection site model.
