Intro

Sometimes it may be desirable to copy a license to a router without using TFTP or FTP. This procedure shows to use the nano editor to create a file on the ASR-9000 that can then be added to the license database.

Procedure

A license for the ASR9K is XML, like the below.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><CISCO_WT_ARTIFACTS version="1.0"><CISCO_WT_LICENSE version="1.0">
<FEATURE_NAME>A9K-ADV-OPTIC-LIC</FEATURE_NAME><FEATURE_VERSION>3.9</FEATURE_VERSION><UDI><PID>ASR-9001</PID>
<SN>FOC1722N990</SN></UDI><SOURCE>Cisco HQ</SOURCE>
<CREATE_DATE>2016-03-07T20:22:58</CREATE_DATE>
<LICENSE_LINE_HASH hashAlgo="SHA1">qStzJzq4kzBMLOCEL+lcxIgaReY=</LICENSE_LINE_HASH>
<TYPE>PERMANENT</TYPE>
<COUNT>1</COUNT>

<snip>

</USER_MODIFIABLE_COMMENT>
</CISCO_WT_LICENSE>
</CISCO_WT_ARTIFACTS>
