Notes on TMS VM configuration

Testing was performed on a Cisco UCS C220 M3S platform. Based on evidence from this testing we do not expect there to be any issues with other supported hardware options.

Installation notes:

  • Install OS, Cisco TMS and SQL server on virtual disk 1
  • Install the database on virtual disk 2
  • Microsoft SQL server 16GB vRAM is minimum, additional vRAM allocated to SQL server will result in better performance for larger deployments.

This configuration supports:

  • 1000 direct managed systems
  • 40 MCU's and TelePresence servers
  • Supports Cisco TelePresence Provisioning extension

To fully utilize Cisco TMS an external Microsoft SQL server is required.

IOPS and Storage System Performance Requirements

This section provides the IOPS data for Cisco TelePresence Management Suite.

Test specifications:

  • Single C220 M3 TRC running ESXi 5.0.0 (update 1)
  • Processor supporting AESNI feature
  • 12GB of RAM
  • 200GB disk space ( 100GB virtual disk 1 and a 100GB virtual disk 2)
  • R2XX-LBBU (Raid disk battery backup to enable cache)
  • Four hard disks (450GB SAS 15K RPM 3.5in HDD/hot plug/C200 drive sled)
  • PCI card Intel Quad port GbE Controller (E1G44ETG1P20)
