Interface that allows the application infrastructure provider (AIP) to access a variety of physical layers, including transparent asynchronous transceiver interface (TAXI) and Synchronous Optical NETwork (SONET) multimode fiber-optic cable, synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH)/SONET single-mode fiber cable, and E3 coaxial cable.
