HSSI Interface Processor (HIP)

Definition

HSSI Interface Processor (HIP) is the interface processor on Cisco 7000 series routers. The HIP provides one High Speed Serial Interface (HSSI) port that supports connections to ATM, Switched Multimegabit Data Service (SMDS), Frame Relay, or private lines, at speeds of up to T3 or E3.
