Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF)


Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF) is a scalable, distributed, layer 3 switching technology for IP.


Designed to meet the future performance requirements of the Internet and enterprise networks, Cisco Express Forwarding represents the latest advance in Cisco IOS switching capabilities, including NetFlow Switching and Distributed Switching. Cisco Express Forwarding is also a key component of the Cisco Tag Switching architecture.
