Automated Packet Recognition-Translation (APaRT)
Definition
Technology that allows a server to be attached to Copper Distributed Data Interface (CDDI) or Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) without requiring the reconfiguration of applications or network protocols. APaRT recognizes specific data-link layer encapsulation packet types and when these packet types are transferred from one medium to another, translates them into the native format of the destination device.
