Before You Begin

This procedure describes how to verify the configuration for a federated network between a Cisco Unified Presence enterprise deployment, and a Microsoft OCS enterprise deployment. Use this procedure as a guide for verifying the other types of integrations if necessary.


Procedure
  1. Log on to the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator client.
  2. Log on to two federated Microsoft Office Communicator clients.
  3. Perform the following steps on the first Microsoft Office Communicator client:
    1. Add the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator user as a buddy.
    2. A pop-up message displays on Cisco Unified Personal Communicator requesting you to accept or block or ignore the presence subscription of Microsoft Office Communicator user.
    3. Check that the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator user and the Microsoft Office Communicator user are able to see each other's presence.
  4. Perform the following steps on the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator client:
    1. Add the second Microsoft Office Communicator user as a buddy.
    2. Check that you can see the presence of the Microsoft Office Communicator user.
    3. A pop-up message should appear on the user client for the Microsoft Office Communicator user informing you that the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator user has been added as a buddy.
  5. Toggle between presence states on both Cisco Unified Personal Communicator and the Microsoft Office Communicator clients. Check that the presence state changes for the buddies on each client.
  6. Initiate an IM from the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator user to a Microsoft Office Communicator buddy.
  7. Check that the IM window appears on Microsoft Office Communicator with the message from the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator user.
  8. Close both Cisco Unified Personal Communicator and Microsoft Office Communicator IM windows.
  9. Initiate an IM from Microsoft Office Communicator user to the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator user.
  10. Check that an IM window appears on Cisco Unified Personal Communicator with the message from the Microsoft Office Communicator user.
  11. On the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator client, perform the following steps:
    1. Block one of the Microsoft Office Communicator users.
    2. Check that this Microsoft Office Communicator user now sees that the presence of the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator user as offline. The second Microsoft Office Communicator user should still be able to see presence status for the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator user.
    3. On the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator client, the blocked Microsoft Office Communicator user should still appear online, and you should be able to initiate an IM to the blocked Microsoft Office Communicator user.
Note: Enabling Stealth presence on Cisco Unified Presence allows users to view the presence status of blocked users. To enable this setting, select Cisco Unified Presence Administration > Presence > Settings, and check Enable/Disable ability for users to view presence on blocked users.

12. Block the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator user from the Microsoft Office Communicator client.

13. Verify that the presence of the Microsoft Office Communicator user is no longer available on Cisco Unified Personal Communicator.
