Anytime that you migrate to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5, you must get new licenses for your system. For details about licenses, see Licenses for your Cisco Unified MeetingPlace System. If you are upgrading from Release 8.5.1, then you can retain your existing Release 8.5.1 licenses.

Notes:

  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager is required for voice and video SIP integration to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5. For a list of supported releases, see Cisco Unified Communications Manager Compatibility.
  • You must obtain the Cisco Media Convergence Server (MCS) hardware for Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
  • Make sure that the specific Cisco MCS model supports the number of SIP sessions that are required by your Cisco Unified MeetingPlace system.

If you are upgrading from a 100% on-premises deployment of MeetingPlace 5, 6 or 7 to SaaS WebEx integrated to MeetingPlace 8.5 and have a need to migrate your user accounts and/or meetings you must engage Cisco Advanced Services or a certified Channel Partner with the expertise to do this. Customers are discouraged from attempting this on their own – because the potential for getting the migration wrong is very high in doing so, resulting in system downtime and loss of service to end-users.

Upgrading from Release 8.5.1

You can upgrade to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5.2 from Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5.1. If you are at an earlier release, then you must migrate to Release 8.5.

If you are upgrading a multinode system:

  • Upgrade each node individually, one at a time.

For specific details about the order to upgrade the nodes, as well as the complete upgrade procedure, see the Installation, Upgrade, and Migration Guide for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5.
