About the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Master Service

The Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Master Service is a Windows master service on the Web Server that manages and monitors the following:

  • Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Agent Service
  • Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Service
  • Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Connect Gateway
  • Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Replication Service
  • Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Gateway for WebEx


It also configures the MeetingPlace Web (MPWEB) database and the MPWEB slave databases.


If your system was upgraded from Release 7.0 to Release 8.0, then the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Master Service also manages and monitors the following:

  • Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Connect Application Service
  • Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Flash Media Administration Server
  • Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Flash Media Server


The master service is turned on automatically after any reboot or upgrade, at which point it monitors all subsidiary services and runs a database configuration and import tool. If the database version is not up to date, the tool updates the database schema. Similarly, if the database needs to import new strings, the tool imports them. If any services fail, the master service automatically restarts and a major alarm is sent to the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Application Server.

Stopping the Web Master Service

You must stop the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Master Service before you complete certain procedures, including Gateway SIM upgrades and configuration changes.


Procedure
  1. Go to the Windows Start menu on the Web Server.
  2. Select Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
  3. Right-click Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Master Service and select Stop.
    Some Cisco Unified MeetingPlace gateway services, such as the Gateway SIM and IIS Admin Service, need to be stopped separately.
  4. (Optional) To stop an individual service that is still running, right-click the service and select Stop.
  5. Close the Services control panel.

Procedure
  1. Go to the Windows Start menu on the Web Server.
  2. Select Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
  3. Right-click Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Master Service and select Start.
