This chapter describes the different deployment options available in Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.0.

Deployment Options

To determine the type of deployment that your system will use, answer the following questions:


Note: All deployments include audio.

  • What versions of Cisco Unified Communications Manager will you use (Release 6.0.1.x, Release 6.1.2, or later releases)?
  • Will you use video?
    • If yes, which type (H.323, SCCP/SIP, or both)?
  • What type of media server will you use (Hardware Media Server or Express Media Server)?
  • Will you use web conferencing?
    • If yes, which type of web conferencing (Cisco WebEx or IBM Lotus Sametime)?
    • If Cisco WebEx, will you schedule from Cisco Unified MeetingPlace or from Cisco WebEx?
    • If Cisco WebEx, will your meetings be internal, external, or both (mixed)?
  • Will you use Reservationless Single Number Access (RSNA) (not available with deployments that include web conferencing and schedule from Cisco WebEx)?
  • Will you use Segmented Meeting Access (SMA-2S)?
  • Will you use Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Directory Service?
  • Will you use Cisco WebEx directory integration (only available with deployments that include web conferencing and schedule from Cisco WebEx)?


Supported Deployments

There are thousands of configurations possible; however, we only support the following 36 deployments.


Note: All deployments contain audio.


Deployments with No Video, No Web Conferencing

  • Audio only, no web, no video, using a Hardware Media Server
  • Audio only, no web, no video, using a Hardware Media Server, with Directory Service
  • Audio only, no web, no video, using a Hardware Media Server, with RSNA
  • Audio only, no web, no video, using an Express Media Server
  • Audio only, no web, no video, using an Express Media Server, with Directory Service
  • Audio only, no web, no video, using an Express Media Server, with RSNA


Deployments with Video, No Web Conferencing

  • Audio and video, no web, using a Hardware Media Server
  • Audio and video, no web, using a Hardware Media Server, with Directory Service
  • Audio and video, no web, using a Hardware Media Server, with RSNA
  • Audio and video, no web, using an Express Media Server
  • Audio and video, no web, using an Express Media Server, with Directory Service
  • Audio and video, no web, using an Express Media Server, with RSNA


Deployments with Web Conferencing, Using Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Scheduling, No Video

  • Audio and web (Cisco Unified MeetingPlace scheduling), no video, using a Hardware Media Server
  • Audio and web (Cisco Unified MeetingPlace scheduling), no video, using a Hardware Media Server, with Directory Service
  • Audio and web (Cisco Unified MeetingPlace scheduling), no video, using a Hardware Media Server, with RSNA
