Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 6.1 > Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Jabber Integration



The following information describes how to install or upgrade Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber on a Jabber server so that users can initiate Cisco Unified MeetingPlace meetings from a Jabber Messenger client.

Pre-Installation Tasks

Do the tasks in this section before installing Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber:

  1. Confirm that the Jabber server meets the requirements listed in the "Integration Requirements: Jabber Server" section of the System Requirements.
  2. Add a feature license option key for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber to the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server. See the Enabling the Jabber Integration Option Key.
  3. Confirm that you have root access to the Jabber server. You must run the installer from the root account on the Jabber server.
  4. Set the JABBER_HOME environment variable for the root account on the Jabber server to point to the directory in which Jabber is installed. See the Setting the JABBER_HOME Environment Variable.


Enabling the Jabber Integration Option Key

An option key is an alphanumeric string similar to a serial number that needs to be entered in the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace database to activate a system option. You use the MeetingTime client to enter option keys. (For more information, see About Loading License Keys.


To Enable the Jabber Integration Option Key
  1. On your license for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server, locate the Jabber Integration option key.
  2. Start MeetingTime and log in to the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server.
  3. Click Administration > Configure.
  4. Click System Options, then click Query.
  5. Use the right arrow button to locate the Jabber Integration option.
  6. Click Option Key, then enter the option key number that you made note of in Step 1 and click OK.
  7. Click Save Changes and restart the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server for the option keys to take effect.


Setting the JABBER_HOME Environment Variable

Before you install Jabber with Cisco Unified MeetingPlace, set the JABBER_HOME environment variable for the root account on the Jabber XCP server to point to the directory in which Jabber is installed.


Procedure
  1. Log in to the Jabber XCP server as root.
  2. Enter bash at the command line.
  3. Enter JABBER_HOME=<Path to the directory in which Jabber is installed>, where <Path to the directory in which Jabber is installed> is the path to the directory in which Jabber is installed. For example, enter JABBER_HOME=/opt/jabber.
  4. Enter export JABBER_HOME.
  5. Enter echo $JABBER_HOME to confirm the setting.
The system displays the path to the directory in which Jabber is installed.

About the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber Installer

You install Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber on a Jabber server by using either a command-line interface, such as a console, or by using the graphical user interface (GUI) in X-Windows. The same installer is used in both cases; the interface you use to launch the installer determines whether you receive the command-line interface or the GUI interface.


You must run the installer from the root account on the Jabber server. Your deployment must include a Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing server running Release 6.1.


Before installing Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber, confirm that the Jabber server meets the requirements listed in the "Integration Requirements: Jabber Server" section of the System Requirements.


Installing Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber by Using the Command-Line Installer

To Install Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber by Using the Command-Line Installer
  1. Log in to the Jabber server as root.
  2. The Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Jabber Integration CD contains a binary file called install_jabber_6_x_x_x.bin, where 6_x_x_x is the version number. Insert the CD into the CD or DVD-ROM drive on the Jabber server, or copy the file to the server from another location.
  3. At the command line, type the path to the binary install file, and press Enter.
  4. Confirm that you want to install Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber by pressing Enter.
  5. Choose the path where Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber will be installed. The path must match the path where the Jabber application is installed. Press Enter to accept the default path, or type a path and press Enter.
  6. Review the installation information. To proceed with the installation, press Enter.


Installing Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber by Using the X-Windows GUI Installer

To Install Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber by Using the X-Windows GUI Installer
  1. Log in to the Jabber server as root.
  2. The Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Jabber Integration CD contains a binary file called install_jabber_6_x_x_x.bin, where 6_x_x_x is the version number. Insert the CD into the CD or DVD-ROM drive on the Jabber server, or copy the file to the server from another location.
  3. In a command window, type the path to the binary install file, and press Enter.
  4. Confirm that you want to install Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber by clicking Next.
  5. Choose the path where Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber will be installed. The path must match the path where the Jabber application is installed. Click Next to accept the default path, or type a path and click Next.
  6. Review the installation information. To proceed with the installation, click Next. To cancel the installation, click Cancel.


Upgrading or Reinstalling Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber

Do the tasks in this section to upgrade or to reinstall Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber. Do them only if you have already completed configuration of Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber. (See Configuring Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber)

  1. Review Upgrading to Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 6.1.
  2. Stop the Cisco External Command Interface component. See the To Stop the Cisco External Command Interface.
  3. If you are upgrading from Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber Release 5.4, add a feature license key for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber to the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server. See the To Enable the Jabber Integration Option Key.
  4. Run the installer by using either the To Install Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber by Using the Command-Line Installer or the To Install Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber by Using the X-Windows GUI Installer.


To Stop the Cisco External Command Interface
  1. Log on to the Jabber XCP Controller web interface. Refer to the Jabber documentation for information on how to access the interface.
  2. From the XCP Controller home page, in the Components section, locate the Cisco External Command Interface component.
  3. In the Actions column, click Stop.

Uninstalling Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber

This section contains three procedures. Do them in the order listed to uninstall Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber.


Do the procedures only if you have already completed configuration of Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber. (See Configuring Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber)


To Stop and Remove the Cisco External Command Interface
  1. Log on to the Jabber XCP Controller web interface. Refer to the Jabber documentation for information on how to access the interface.
  2. From the XCP Controller home page, in the Components section, locate the Cisco External Command Interface component.
  3. In the Actions column, click Stop.
  4. In the Remove column, click Remove.


To Delete the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for Jabber Files
  1. From a command window on the Jabber server, locate the JAR file directory-the ./lib/cisco subdirectory of the directory that contains the installer source files (for example, /opt/jabber/lib/cisco).
  2. Enter rm -rf <Path to JAR File Directory from Step 1> and press Enter.
  3. Locate the Cisco JIG configuration directory-the ./schemas/jig/config/cisco subdirectory of the directory that contains the installer source files (for example, /opt/jabber/schemas/jig/config/cisco).
  4. Enter rm -rf <Path to Cisco JIG Configuration File Directory from Step 3> and press Enter.
  5. Locate the Cisco XSD configuration directory-the ./schemas/xsd/config/cisco subdirectory of the directory that contains the installer source files (for example, /opt/jabber/schemas/xsd/config/cisco).
  6. Enter rm -rf <Path to Cisco XSD Configuration File Directory from Step 5> and press Enter.


To Remove the Component Reference from the Jabber.Jig File
  1. From a command window on the Jabber server, locate the jabber.jig file (for example, /opt/jabber/schemas/jig/config/jabber/jabber.jig).
  2. Open the jabber.jig file in a text editor.
  3. Find and remove the following line of text: <xi:include xi:href="${JABBER_HOME}/schemas/jig/config/cisco/cisco.jig" level="base"/>
  4. Save and close the jabber.jig file.
