Before installing the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing with SMA, complete the tasks below.

Procedure
Task Additional Information

1. Learn about SMA. Review system requirements.

Read the following:

2. Gather installation values.

See Gathering Installation Values.

3. Install and configure the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Application Server software on a Cisco MCS. The Application Server will be used by both the internal and external servers.

See How to Install the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Application Server.

4. Determine the licenses needed for Web Conferencing.

See About Licenses for information about Web Conferencing licenses.

5. Determine the SQL Server instances that the internal and external Web Servers will be using.

SQL Server can be installed locally on the Web Server or remotely on a separate, dedicated server; however, the internal and external Web Servers must use separate SQL Server instances.

6. For both the internal and the external servers, if you will be using a remote SQL Server instance on one or both servers, install it.

Install both SQL Server and the appropriate service pack on separate Windows machines. These can be Cisco MCSs or legacy non-Cisco MCSs. See SQL Server Requirements for information about the required service pack.

Note: For the remote SQL Server option, you can use SQL Server 2005 (Service Pack 2) instead of SQL Server 2000 (Service Pack 4). To use SQL Server 2005, first install the SQL Server 2005 backward compatibility software (the Distributed Management Objects [DMO] component only) on the Web Server.
